Added a pile to the piles of firewood

My pile!

See it over there to the left? I did that myself!

Here's Shane lifting the last piece (my back said enough!)

And progress on the other two piles.

The big picture.

The little engine that could.

At the end of the day...

You find you have more firewood.

The pile on the left is dry and the pile on the right is still green. Scout the antique dog is 12, but the tractor is far older.

Hello Scout. She's a good old dog!

Firewood Season has opened

We are finally in firewood season.

This was this morning, before a few repairs were done to the old tractor.
Thank you for all your hard work SP!

Fire wood

This is the long awaited culmination of our tree girdling project. Much thanks for all the firewood my dear SP!
And we are off!
First log to be skid!
The pile begins and then it grows...

And then I get my turn on the tractor to skid the green wood to its final drying spot on top of the well.

A sandwich so good...

Unexpected October Bloom

We were raking last weekend.

Well, to be honest, SP spent most of the time on top of the tractor blowing the leaves off the lawn.

Does that make him a red neck?

Funny part was he actually had a rake in his hand most of the time, looking like he was jousting some unseen leaf monster.

I digress.

After he tractor-raked the lawn, he hand raked the flower beds and found this surprise bloom.

I love it.

Snap dragons are special.

They will always and forever remind me of my maternal grandmother Mima.

Thanks HiHo!

I can't wait to ride a tractor.

I was driving to town today (had to find a man about a notary) and passed a man on a tractor. He was serenely passing back and forth, swathing the fallen hay to dry another day before he can bail it. I can't wait to be that person on the tractor. I can't wait - really - because the farm is nearly with in reach. Well OK, the house isn't on the market yet but I know where we are heading! I look forward to controlling the fields and their eternal quest to return to forest, but also to know that I can feed and care for our future livestock. The thought that made me chuckle the most is how many women my age actually have their heart skip a beat when they think about haying?
